Hot Tub Chemical Usage

Sparkling Water
That's what you want your hot tub to have!

You don't need to have a degree in chemistry to achieve crystal clear water in your hot tub! As long as you follow the basic water care routines you will have clean, fresh, inviting water and a hot tub that's ready and waiting for you any time you fancy a relaxing soak or friends turn up.

We recommend that you follow the hot tub water care routine below:

Daily

  • Check the chosen sanitiser levels & add more chlorine or bromine to get to the correct level
  • Check the hot tub's pH level & add pH Plus or Minus granules as required
  • Clean the tubs water line with Waterline Cleaning Paste to get rid of dirt & oils

Weekly

  • Use a Non Chlorine Shock to oxidise the hot tub
  • Add Spa Clarifier for beautifully sparkling water & improve the filter performance
  • If your water foams when the air blower use No Foam to control the foaming
  • If you live in an area of high calcium hardness adding Stain and Scale Inhibitor will help prevent scale deposits and subsequent staining of the tub's surface

Monthly

  • Clean the spa filter cartridge(s) using the Filter and Cartridge Cleaner solution - it's worth having two sets of filters so that you can continue to use the spa whilst cleaning the other set

Additionally

  • Your hot tub will need completely draining & refilling from time to time due to the build up of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and for general hygiene reasons. Although there are no real rules as to when to do it the following formulation is a guideline:

Hot Tub litres ÷ number of daily users ÷ by 12 = days in between draining/refilling

Example : 1400 litres ÷ by 4 ÷ by 12 = 29 days

Properly looking after your hot tub will help keep running costs as low as possible.
